HAF provides the following services:

Travel
The participant is solely responsible for arranging and payment of all travel schedules, specifically including all airfares or other transport costs to and from the project site, as well as any local transport costs. It is the responsibility of the participant to carry all necessary documents when traveling abroad. While HAF may advise the participant on required travel documentation, HAF is not responsible for any supporting documents necessary for the volunteer's travel needs or other purposes. HAF only gives invitation letters and supporting documents to a volunteer or intern for their visa application if required by the Embassy.
Travel and Medical Insurance
HAF does not provide the participant with insurance of any kind. Travel insurance is sometimes required for each participant, and the volunteer will purchase this prior to departing on the trip. The volunteer is solely responsible for evaluating and determining the type, extent and levels of any insurance coverage they need or desire for their planned volunteer travel period. However, it must cover their entire travel period.
Program Fees
Volunteers are required to pay a specific fee to help cover their accommodation, meals and administrative support. Details of the program fees are set out on our website. Program fees paid to HAF by online payment, bank or wire transfer will need to have transaction costs covered by the volunteer. A US$150 non-refundable deposit, payable by credit card online, is due after application received and accepted by HAF staff. This deposit is to secure their placement. Deposit paid comes off program fee, it is not an additional payment. Full payments of program fees are due 30 days prior to the participant’s program start date. All program fee or deposit payments attract a 5% transaction fee charge to cover PayPal fees (where applicable), bank fees and currency conversion charges.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
HAF does not charge volunteers to join our programs, however we only require volunteer and interns to pay a fee to cover all living arrangements and program needs including accommodation, meals, utilities, airport pickups, program donations and registration as needed per program. HAF program fees are significantly less than the fees charged by other such companies. HAF does not provide a total refund policy. If participant cancels their program within 60 days prior to start date, participant will be refund with 50% of the program fee only. There is no refund for cancellation within 30 days of program to start date.
In-country Support
HAF provides 24/7 in country support service to all our volunteers and interns during the entirity of their program.
Communication
The best way to communicate with family and friends back home is through a cell phone or online via the internet. Volunteers can buy an internet wireless modems very cheaply from a service provider to use. There is also an internet café in the suburb of Nungua where most of our volunteers often live. Most internet cafes are open 8am to 9pm Monday to Saturday and are inexpensive. Volunteers are advised to bring their own cell phones or purchase a cheap cellphone locally. HAF coordinator will provide mobile phone SIM card number on arrival in Ghana. Local cellphones are usually prepaid and cost around 30 - 40 USD, and you can purchase a data bundle once your SIM card is activated. HAF team monitors and follows up to volunteer works on site.
